Q: Why an Adventist film festival?

Sonscreen is unique – it’s the only Adventist event of its kind. And that’s part of why it’s so important. Students and professionals in film and creative arts need to see that there’s a place for them within the Adventist support system – whether for employment, or just connection. Sonscreen celebrates student’s creativity, and also creates channels for those students to stay involved after they graduate.

Q: What’s a film festival?

It’s an opportunity for filmmakers to show their work to others. Film students and other creatives submit their films for consideration, and the selected films are screened for the whole group during the weekend. The event also features educational speakers and time for young filmmakers to connect with each other.

You may not have heard that name before – it’s fairly new. Sonscreen Films is a newer project from the Sonscreen Film Festival team. That’s why Sonscreen Films believes we can do more when we all work together.

Q: What are some of the film projects Sonscreen Films has been involved with?

Sonscreen Films works with Hope Media Europe, and filmmakers from Adventist media centers around the world on a yearly international network project. Past productions for the network project have included

Q: How can I use Sonscreen Films in my ministry?

All the films you see on our website are available for you to share with your churches and communities. If you visit our “categories” page on the website and type “faith” in the search bar, you’ll see a list of films pop up that have explicit discussions of faith and spiritual themes. However some of the films not list in the “faith and spirituality” section might also be great for your ministry needs – watch them and see if you feel inspired to create a parable or object lesson. Feel free to stream these films off the website for small groups, and personal viewing, and if you’d like to arrange a larger-scale viewing, contact us to make arrangements.
