Pitch Competition Guidelines

Ashton.jpeg

Eligibility and Preparation

The competition is open to students of recognized educational institutions.

The top five submissions will be invited to pitch to a professional jury during the festival. Judges will be looking for a thorough pitch including: budget, audience, marketing, and distribution. Should your pitch be selected as a finalist, you will need to register for a festival pass (if you have not done so already).

To prepare for your pitch, consider watching videos of winning pitches from past years. Several such videos can be found on our website. Watch pitch videos here.

Prize Amounts

Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning pitches
• First place: $3,500
• Second place: $1,500
• Third place: $750

Deadlines and Receiving Funds

The deadline to enter the pitch competition (& submit your pitch deck) is: March 4, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. PT

You must upload your pitch deck and related materials (e.g. proof of concept, budget, attached talent, etc.) at the link below by the deadline.

Those who win a cash prize must the festival team within six months of the festival by emailing sonscreen@nadadventist.org, and must submit a valid W9 form in order to recieve their funds.

If an inquiry email is not received by October 15 of year in which the pitch was won or if a W9 has not been submitted by November 15 of that same year, all winnings will be forfeit.

Make sure to send that email and form  - PLEASE DO NOT MISS OUT ON YOUR FUNDING!

Submission Requirements

You will upload your pitch deck, a description of your pitch, and other supporting documents of your choice during registration for the pitch.

Please note that the judges will consider the scope of your project, and how a $750 - $3,500 award will be useful in that project. For this reason, a short film or pilot is more likely to succeed than a feature film or full series proposal. Whatever your project, the judges will want to know how the funds from winning would be used in your project.

Your pitch deck must include:
• Budget
• Logline and synopsis
• Any attached crew or talent
• Artwork (poster or concept sketches)

Optional materials include:
• Proof of concept
• Trailer
• Storyboards

Good luck!
